The Centipede Demon is a Demon that only appears in FAITH: Chapter III's Ending III: A New Vessel when John picks up a key from his basement.
Biography[]
This Demon is red and worm-like with nine sections, each with two limbs with which he crawls. His face is human-like, melting or wrinkly, and he boasts sharp, jagged teeth in his wide mouth. He has two red eyeballs resting in large black eye sockets. During the encounter, this Demon makes a droning noise that almost sounds like shrieking.
October 31st, 1987 (Ending III: A New Vessel)[]
If John fails to explore the daycare center on October 30th, his neighborhood will be taken over by Thralls. John wants to open his door that's covered in crucifixes one more time but to unlock it, he has to fetch a key that's in his basement. When John obtains the key, the Demon appears from the staircase. Although this Demon moves slow, he has to maneuver his way around him and go upstairs. The color on the screen will distort and bleed when the Demon sees John, and he will move faster. If he isn't fast enough, the Demon will chomp on him several times and spit him out, killing him. There is no way to repel or banish this Demon because John doesn't have his crucifix in his inventory. Fortunately, this Demon won't follow him when he exits the basement. Note, however, that the Demon will respawn from the staircase again if John decides to go back downstairs and walk towards the middle of the room. Also, after this encounter the door leading to John's backyard will be open.

- The Centipede Demon's ambient noises heard while he is present
Trivia[]
- The Centipede Demon might be the second largest Demon in the entire game, beaten by the UNSPEAKABLE and Tiffany's Demon in third place.
- Among Demons of this size, he's the only one that isn't a boss.
- The filename for this Demon is called "Worm".
- Even though the player won't see the crucifix in John's inventory when pausing the game, when he dies his crucifix is next to him. This is most likely an oversight by Airdorf.
Theories[]
- This Demon is likely a figment of John's imagination rather than something real.
- He shows up abruptly, doesn't follow John upstairs, and disappears immediately when John goes back inside the basement. During this ending John is fully losing grip on his sanity and wanting to look at his filing room of his times at the Yale Psychiatric Institute one more time. It could be possible that this Demon is supposed to be a representation of fear in some way.
- The hole in John's backyard could explain how this Demon came out of nowhere.
- We see this hole in the apartment complex as well where Malphas was summoned, it was likely created by the cultists to bring a powerful Demon from Hell to either torment John or ruin the neighborhood even more. This explains why this Demon is the largest, it's the Profane Sabbath where demonic activity is at its highest and every other Demon John had to face beforehand didn't require as much power to come into Earth.
