Dr. McGlashan is a minor character mentioned in one note in FAITH: Chapter I.
Biography[]
Very little is known about this character, apart from them working at Yale Psychiatric Institute and supposedly having the authority to release patients from their care.
September 22nd, 1986[]
John Ward and Amy Martin are admitted into Yale Psychiatric Institute after being the only two survivors of a botched exorcism. Dr. Spinel looks after John, presumably being assigned to him by Dr. McGlashan.
October 23rd, 1986[]
A letter is written to Dr. McGlashan signed with John's name. The letter writes that John has come to accept that what happened last month at the Martin House was not the result of paranormal activity, but of Amy being driven insane by controlling parents and church rituals believed to dispel evil. The letter ends requesting John's release from the psych ward after any more necessary appointments with Dr. Spinel.
In reality, this letter was written by Gary Miller. Since Amy had since been charged with the murders that took place on that day, she was unlikely to be released any time soon, meaning that the cult needed to find a new vessel to undergo a Second Death ritual. Gary realized that John may make a fine replacement, and so he would write this letter in the hopes that he is released from the institute.
October 31st, 1986[]
Dr. McGlashan apparently accepts the request of release. Dr. Spinel releases John from his care, believing his treatment and counseling to be a success and that he can be safely returned into society.
Trivia[]
- Dr. McGlashan's exact position in the institution is unknown. It can be assumed that they play an important role regardless, since the release request had been written to them specifically, rather than Dr. Spinel or anybody else.
- When the standalone version of FAITH: Deluxe Edition was initially released, the letter was dated December 30th, 1986. In The Unholy Trinity, it is October 23rd, 1986. This was likely done since John's release form in Chapter II had always been dated October 31st, 1987.
