Endings[]

Ending I: A New Purpose[]

John Ward fails to completely break the seal to the Crucible, so he and Father Garcia end up sealing the crucible in a casket. They exit the school and walk to Father Garcia's car. Garcia admits they have only temporarily stopped the terror and asks Ward to help in his battle against the UNSPEAKABLE. Ward declines, saying he is too reckless and mentally unwell to continue fighting.

Depending on whether the player saves Lisa (during the apartment section) or not, Ending I can have two tonal outcomes:

  • If she lives, John is slightly more optimistic but still unsure of himself. Father Garcia will be more supportive of him and they will depart in the car on better terms, with Garcia becoming John's new mentor.
  • If she dies, John is more pessimistic and weary of continuing his fight against the demons of Hell. This causes Father Garcia to become aggressive with him, pointing his shotgun at him and demanding he gets into the car.

Ending II: A New Journey[]

The player must unlock and defeat all three secret bosses to break the seal to the Crucible. Once each is done correctly, a short cutscene will show a section of the seal breaking after the player leaves the respected area.

  • Clinic: Get back on the stretcher, wait for a few seconds near the left door, and enter. Inside are the Mother and Child.
  • Apartment Complex: Pick up the drawing in front of the elevator on the 6th floor, and exorcise the Elevator Demon 10 times to get the other drawing and unlock the "elevator game". After saving Lisa, head into the elevator, and input the sequence written on both notes: 1, 4, 2, 6, 2, 10, 5, 1. If done successfully, the player will head up to the "10th" floor after inputting the last number. Head right, and enter the open room. This is where Tiffany must be fought and defeated.
  • Garyland: Walk through the left hallway with a painting of Miriam Bell 3 times to completely distort the painting. The Unholy Spirit will then appear and begin chasing John through the corridors. It must be exorcised.

Having completed these three tasks, John successfully breaks the seal to the Crucible. Father Garcia volunteers to stay behind to fight off the cult members while John plunges into the Crucible to stop the evil once and for all.

After defeating the Unholy Trinity, John and Garcia walk out of the school and to Ward's car. Garcia confirms that Gary's terror is no more, but there is still work to be done against the UNSPEAKABLE and asks John to help him.

Lisa will intervene and tell John that he doesn't have to continue fighting. He will then have the option to side with either Lisa or Father Garcia. Both lead to the same ending, as he drives off in a car with whoever he chose before a fade to black.

Ending III: A New Vessel[]

John kneeling in front of Amy

John kneeling in front of Amy

The player doesn't investigate the Daycare (Garyland) and immediately leaves. On the day of the Profane Sabbath, Ward finds his house surrounded by cult members and unlocks the crucifix-riddled door. Inside he confronts Amy, and he begs for the nightmares to end. Amy drags him into her gaping portal, and John finds himself at the abandoned Martin house in complete disrepair, somehow much worse than it was only a month ago.

Inside, he discovers that the twins he's been searching for throughout the entire story never existed. Cindy, Amy's mother, miscarried the twins, but was in complete denial of it, going so far as to host birthday parties for them. Eventually, John finds two effigies in their room and succumbs to his despair. Amy and Michael appear and take his hands before a giant demonic hand appears and swallows them up. Then the entire Martin house vanishes.
