Allred appears as an elderly man with gray hair. He wears his clerical clothing underneath a trench coat, which is topped off by a lavender stole.
Personality[]
Father Allred was a man of God, who is willing to risk his own life to get the job done and defeat the forces of evil. He's an experienced priest and exorcist who's been associated with the Catholic Church for a long time. He is shown to be stern to his apprentice, John, but also caring. In his last moments, he left his crucifix to John, asking him to continue Amy's exorcism in his place with his own blood, further showing his dedication to his work.
Biography[]
September 7th - 20th, 1986[]
A woman named Cindy Martin begins to notice that her daughter, Amy, isn't seeming much like herself. Overtime, her condition gets worse, and Cindy can hardly stand to be near her anymore. She is apparently unable to take her to a doctor, as she doesn't want to leave the twins at home. All she can do is wait for her husband, Bob, to return home from his missionary work in Nicaragua.
Bob eventually arrives back home to be greeted by a standoffish Amy and a mentally unstable Cindy. He and Cindy come to the conclusion that Amy's affliction is the result of something supernatural, so they call upon the Catholic Church to help drive the demon out. Father Allred, with his years of experience, is chosen for the job.
After analyzing the situation over several visits to the Martin Home, Allred realizes that the demon inside Amy is much stronger than any he's dealt with before, so he requests the Church for an assistant. John Ward, a young priest who has never performed an exorcism before, is assigned to him. The exorcism of Amy Martin is set to take place on the 21st.
Allred wishes to have the exorcism performed away from the house, preferably in the nearby shed, but Amy's parents are adamant on having it done inside the house so that they can periodically check on Amy.
September 21st, 1986[]
In the night, Father Allred and John drive to the Martin House to perform the exorcism.
Trying to spark a conversation and getting to know him, Allred reminds John that the exorcism was a top secret and asks if he's ever done one before. John is on-the-edge and gives one-word answers like, "No, Sir." Noticing his nervousness, Allred reprimands him that it's 'Father' not 'Sir' and reassures him that everything will be ok if he follows his directions. Additionally, Allred gives him advice that he should not trust what he sees or hears. Reaching the destination, the two park outside, open the door, and Allred introduces himself and John to Bob and Cindy.
John and Cindy remain quiet, and Bob's a nervous wreck, shamefully telling the two that he had to tie Amy in the basement. Walking downstairs, Amy stares at John and Father Allred coldly as Allred tries to ask how she's doing. With no response, Allred demands the demon's name in Latin, and her demon remarks, "HELLO, PRIEST." Father Allred begins the exorcism.
John does nothing but stand still while Father Allred tries to exorcise her. As the session goes, Amy does nothing but kick her feet and laugh. Annoyed, Allred demands John to recite the prayer of exorcism from a nearby book. Upon reading the fourth verse, Bob and Cindy walk downstairs to see the commotion. Sensing Cindy's horrified silence, Amy's demon tries to call out to her. Allred demands to take the two back upstairs since her demon was trying to afflict them. As John relocates the two, Bob tries to spark a conversation and says that whatever was going on with her daughter was not her. John says, "...I don't know what to tell you." He instructs the two to wait upstairs while he goes back down to assist Father Allred. Walking back downstairs, John sees Allred unconscious on the floor and Amy missing. On the floor, the words "Take it" and "Save her" have been written in red (possibly blood). John picks up Allred's crucifix and says, "Don't worry, Amy. I'm coming."
It's unclear if Allred was killed while John was upstairs with the parents, but for now we're just going to say that he's knocked out and Amy nearly killed him. With his last remaining strength, he wanted to make sure Amy was exorcised, and so gave John the message to take his crucifix to complete this task.
Looking around the house for Amy on the 1st Floor, Bob and Cindy were missing as well. However, he occasionally spots Cindy hiding behind furniture and sees Bob seemingly trapped in a mirror in the master bedroom. Going to the 2nd Floor and into the attic, he spots Amy standing motionlessly and the entire room was cold. John urges her to go back downstairs to restart the exorcism, but her demon starts to tease that his deceased mother was in the room with them. John ignores the goading and calls out for Bob and Father Allred. The demon mocks him again that nobody was coming to rescue him. With no choice, John attempts to restart the exorcism.
Amy's demon was far too strong and temporarily knocks John unconscious. After a while, John tries to find Amy again, vowing to never go back inside the attic after what he witnessed. Looking for her in her bedroom, John was horrified to find Cindy's strangled body nearby a doll. Amy apparently gutted her and strangled her with her own intestines while John was unconscious. Walking down to the master bedroom, he also finds Bob's strangled body. By this point, John was scared and feels like he needs to get out of the house immediately before getting killed himself. However, he doesn't want to leave Father Allred behind since he was merely unconscious, so he musters determination and ventures to the basement again. Investigating the area, he hears Father Allred saying, "Everything will be alright, Father Ward. Please come quickly!" Going back to where the exorcism initially begun, he finds Allred's body tampered and with hollow eye sockets. Allred begins to speak again, but suddenly, Amy appears and has his head on her lap. She opens Allred's eyes, and they begin to bleed. She continues to manipulate Allred's body to ask for John's help. She then stands up and crawls on all fours to rush John. Suddenly, she cuts off the lights, and the entire house goes dark.
Alone and terrified, John has reached his breaking point and starts fearing that he will never escape the house alive. Seeing the corpses of her parents, her raw demonic power, and mimicking Father Allred's voice was all too much to bear. He prays for God to come rescue him. With no response, he then pleads for anybody else to come. Suddenly, a white entity manifests before him. The entity asks him what he wants, and John pleads to just go home. The entity reminds him that, if he swears upon it, Amy's possession will have a stronger hold on her, implying that she will never get exorcised if he makes the deal. Exhausted, John repeats himself that he just wants to go home. The entity makes him swear on it, and John obliges. With this, he's free to walk out of the house without getting killed by Amy. Outside, he walks towards paramedics and the police.
Aftermath[]
Although Father Allred was simply knocked out while John was looking around the house, he was killed when John was unconscious in the attic, likewise for Bob and Cindy. You can tell that he's dead because Amy gouged out his eyes and he isn't writhing in pain. John and Amy were admitted into Yale Psychiatric Institute since they were mentally unwell when they left the house. Additionally, the police found the bodies of Father Allred, Bob, and Cindy, so John was heavily speculated to be the murderer since a teenager like Amy seems unlikely to kill three adults. After a month of counseling, John was released from the institution and was able to go back to his wife, Molly. In the series, the Catholic Church has odd authority over the press. The murder case was deemed to be an accident and Amy was charged with the murders; the reason for her killing was that Allred was using old church rituals that were thought to dispel evil and her parents were too controlling. She serves her sentence at an institution. The organization did not want the public to know that two priests were outmatched by a demon, so they denounced John as a priest. If he ever blabs about what truly happened in that house, it will look like John was going mental and whatever he's saying would sound non-credible.
September 21st, 1987[]
Roughly a couple weeks prior, John has a vivid dream where Amy requested him to return to the Martin House on the anniversary of the failed exorcism to finish what he started. John woke up from the nightmare, retrieved his priestly outfit, Allred's crucifix, and prepared to return on the 21st.
Shortly before John ventures to Snake Meadow Hill Road to complete the exorcism, he felt it was courteous of him to leave a letter behind to Molly. In the letter, he tries to tell her the true version of what happened a year ago, hinting that if he never returns, the Catholic Church will tell her their own version of what happened to him. He recaps that Amy strangled her own parents and killed Father Allred with her own hands. He ends his letter that he loves her (Molly) very much and is sorry, implying that he's expecting to die in the house and his mission is like an elaborate suicide.
When John parks on the road, unlocks the front door, and enters inside, he can pick up notes that he left behind during the first exorcism. Otherwise, Father Allred won't be mentioned for a while.
October 28th - 31st, 1987[]
We cut to over a month later and John begins to have vivid nightmares where he relives his first exorcism. However, we can tell that all of these nightmares are from his own memories, and he believes that whatever happened in these nightmares truly did happen, which is concerning because John is not mentally all-there. There's evidence of this because he cannot enter the Martin Twins' room at all because, "I don't remember anything further." and there's a drawing of Snake Meadow Hill Church signed by Amy. It would've been impossible for Amy to even know about the church considering her age. Each time John sleeps at his house, he goes through various nightmares where he tries to assist Father Allred with the exorcism.

Trivia[]
Airdorf has revealed that Father Allred's appearance was inspired by a movie still of actor Andy Garcia.[1]
Alike Father Garcia, Father Allred's background is a mystery, and we don't know too much about him. Additionally, nobody else in the series ever brings him up besides nightmares and notes from John. If it weren't for one note in Chapter I where John confirms that Father Allred died, it could be speculated that he was still alive and decided to give up being a priest.
In earlier versions of FAITH: The Unholy Trinity, the stole that appears on Allred's sprite was missing in the cutscene where he opens the door. It was added to this cutscene in version 1.5.
In the fourth flashback, his stole was added as a sprite on the ground so Airdorf wouldn't have to add it into his following cutscene appearance.
The stole is still visible on his sprite at this point, however.
While Father Allred's stole appears gray in-game due to the black-and-white effect applied to the flashbacks, mockup images and earlier versions of sprites reveal that the true color of the stole is lavender.
