FAITH: THE STORY SO FAR - February 13 2019

06 SEPTEMBER 1986

On Gary Murphy's request, Amy gets her friend to drive her to the clinic for what she believes to be a work party. The cultists drag Amy into the basement of the clinic and abuse her in a Satanic ritual. The cultists dump Amy on her front doorstep.

07 SEPTEMBER 1986

The Martins find Amy on their doorstep in a drugged state. She spends the night in the hospital.

Hospital staff witness a number of paranormal occurences.

21 SEPTEMBER 1986

John Ward accompanies Father Allred to the Martin home for his first exorcism. Amy, who has been restrained in the basement, escapes her bonds and hides throughout the house, terrorizing the priests and her family members. After cornering her in the attic, Ward attempts to perform the exorcism himself. This enrages whatever is possessing Amy and she escapes again, murdering her parents and putting her younger brothers in a debilitating trance.

Amy escapes into the woods and John flees the Martin residence with a wounded Father Allred.

20 JUNE 1987

Father Garcia takes custody of Michael Davies who is afflicted with demonic possession. He restrains Michael in the basement of his apartment and begins an exorcism that will last nearly three months.

29 AUGUST 1987

Father Garcia receives a letter from the Vatican instructing him to turn Michael over to his parents once more.

31 AUGUST 1987

Michael is returned to his home in a horribly malnourished, deformed state. Father Gallardo flies to Rome with a representative from the Vatican for debriefing.

01 SEPTEMBER 1987

The Davies are terrorized by a still-possessed Michael. Having formed a psychic link with Michael during the months-long exorcism, Father Gallardo arrives at the Davies home hoping to finish what he started. Michael escapes with Father Gallardo in pursuit.

19 SEPT 1987

The cultists bring Amy to the basement of her home where the Second Death ritual is performed on her. The ritual is accompanied by animal sacrifices and the cursing of various objects around the property. Amy is left in the basement while the cultists leave to gather offerings that will be passed through the Gateway.

21 SEPT 1987

Believing his nightmares may be some sort of omen, John Ward drives to the Martin residence one year after the ill-fated exorcism. In the woods surrounding the Martin home, Ward is attacked by the demonic Michael Davies while Father Gallardo watches from a distance. Ward manages to enter the Martin residence and confront a demonic Amy, who has already undergone the Gateway Ritual.

Ward resumes the exorcism he started. After some difficulty, he witnesses a demonic hand erupt from the Gateway as Amy attacks him with increased aggression. Finally, enough demonic influence is exorcised from Amy and she flings herself out of the attic window.

Believing he had finished what he started, Ward makes his way back to his car. He is attacked by Michael one more time but manages to fend him off with a rifle. Wounded, Michael staggers onto the road and is run over by an 18-wheeler. Ward escapes along Snake Hill Meadow Road.

Notes[]

  • There's a lot of differences in plot between this .txt file creation and Chapter I's plot.
    • Father Garcia was originally called Father Gallardo. Strangely, the .txt file uses "Garcia" at first then switches to "Gallardo".
    • Father Allred was never killed back in the first exorcism and was merely wounded.
    • The Martin Twins are real and were in the house during the first exorcism (this makes me think that they were supposed to be real all the way up to Chapter III's release because there were no hints that they weren't).
    • Gary's last name used to be Murphy, now it's Miller.
    • Amy was sent to a hospital after her get-together.
    • No police or authorities were involved during the first exorcism. Amy escaped into the woodland and nobody was deemed the murderer of her parents.
    • Father Garcia was contacted by the Vatican to return Michael to his parents, not Father Gifford.
    • Father Garcia flew to Rome for a debriefing with the Vatican and Michael was returned to his parents, even though he's very aggressive.
    • The Second Death ritual was called the Gateway.
    • The cult performed the Second Death on Amy two days before Chapter I. In the final, this was done roughly a week before the game starts.
  • Even though the plot is different between the .txt file and the final, there are some details that still applies to Chapter I.
    • Amy truly got possessed at her get-together with Gary and other coworkers (cult members) at the abortion clinic. In the final, it's never explicitly stated how Amy got possessed in the first place.
    • When Amy escaped a mental institution roughly a week before Chapter I, the cult performed the Second Death ritual on her in the basement. Besides one newspaper article detailing how she escaped, it's never really specific.
    • The reason why Gary and cult members did not appear until "The Hunter" Ending is that they were temporarily gone to gather animal sacrifices to put into Amy's face hole. In the game it's never explained at all, but this detail makes a lot of sense.
    • Gary and the cult curses objects surrounding the property, which explains why a deer shows up as an apparition in Chapter III, Gray Demons swarming in from outside the house during Amy's fight, and why some screens loop in the forest as if it has a mind of its own. In the game it's never explained (although you can clam it up as haunted shenanigans because of the cult, it's better to have a proper explanation).
  • The plot in this file is as if it premeditates Chapter I's release, like a developmental piece of sorts even though the document was created when Chapter I and Prologue was out to the public.
    • You can tell by Father Garcia's different name, Amy getting the Second Death performed on her on the 19th even though it should be the 13th from a note, saying the "Gateway" instead of the "Second Death", and so on.
