Malphas Acolytes are enemies that appear in FAITH: Chapter III.

They appear from the darkness in the Nowhere Forest.

Appearance[]

Malphas Acolytes appear as purple humans with blood on their hands. They are shown to be naked, save for a bird mask which is slumped over their backs, seemingly carrying their nearly(?) decapitated heads. Because of this, they walk backwards, giving an uncanny quality to their movement.

Personality[]

Malphas Acolytes are only shown to try and attack John, emitting high-pitched screeching noises whenever they get close to him.

They were likely normal-looking people before entering into a cult and choosing to devote their lives to serving Malphas.

Biography[]

October 30th, 1987[]

As John Ward makes his way through Garyland, he enters a series of hallways with concrete walls and rusty chain-link fencing. He picks up a lantern so that he may proceed into the darkness. He begins to see these acolytes staring at him from behind the fencing, as well as a strange Spirit Bird. At the end of the hallways, one Malphas Acolytes appears on his path from the darkness, walking backwards towards him and screeching at him. John is able to swiftly defeat it with his cross and proceed.

As he enters the Nowhere Forest just beyond the halls, several Malphas Acolytes begin to swarm him from the darkness. They all move slower than him and are easily defeated by the cross, but may still be able to ambush him given the lantern's limited visibility.

In the darkness of the forest, John must find and exorcise three bound acolytes that seem to be holding up a seal over a mysterious door.

October 31st, 1987[]

During John's fight with Gary in Garyland, he has a chance of summoning apparitions of past foes, including a Malphas Acolyte.

Trivia[]

  • Malphas Acolytes are rendered with the same purple color as Amy Martin.
  • New production sketchbook images added in the 1.2 update of The Unholy Trinity reveals that these enemies are actually cultists, not Demons as previously believed.
