The Paranormal Investigators are a group of people mentioned in FAITH: Chapter II.

The group was known to consist of three members trying to capture paranormal activity on camera in Snake Meadow Hill Church.

Biography[]

The three investigators consist of Lars, Henry, and the unnamed individual who writes the notes found in game. Being from outside Sterling, they aren't completely invested in the history of Snake Meadow Hill Church, and are mainly investigating with intent to sell their paranormal footage to TV stations for a profit.

Before September 28th, 1987[]

Day 1[]

The group arrives in Sterling, Connecticut to begin their investigation of the church. Before entering, they go around town gathering food and supplies, and talking to the locals of the area too see if they knew anything noteworthy about the church. One of the locals had informed them of the "Spindly Lady Game", which had to do with "summoning the spirit of a woman who used to take care of the orphans back in the 50s." They decide they should try it out once they settle inside.

That night, they discover the blocked off trapdoor into the basement, as well as a secret hallway behind the confessional booth. There are two boarded-up doors in this hallway, so Henry goes back out into town to get a crowbar and pry them off. They also pick up an EVP that kind of sounds like laughter, which they plan to review on their sound gear later.

Day 2[]

Lars and the writer are filming their attempt to play the Spindly Lady Game they learned about yesterday. During this act, Lars walked into the room, seemingly causing one of the candles on the floor to light up on its own. The writer remarks in their journal that this footage will make them a fortune once they sell it to the TV stations.

Day 3[]

By this night, things have apparently taken a turn for the worse. Lars has gotten stuck in the basement behind the trapdoor that doesn't open from the outside. Henry has not come back with the crowbar. The footage the investigators captured has gone missing. The writer is apparently unable to leave, remarking that they should never have come here. No more notes from them are found after this.

September 28th, 1987[]

During John Ward's worst nightmare yet, he enters Snake Meadow Hill Church. Inside, he finds the four notes left behind by the paranormal investigators. One note describes the Spindly Lady Game, accompanied with the rhyme:

"Walk the church from room to room

And maybe you will see her

She will move when you do

But never try to trick her!"

In his attempts to follow the rules of the game, John is eventually met with the Spindly Lady, who he is able to defeat. After this, the trapdoor to the church's basement is opened.

In the church basement, three human skulls can be found. These could be the skulls of Lars, Father Clarke, and one other unidentified individual - perhaps the writer of the previous notes. Henry's fate is unknown.

Trivia[]

  • It is implied that the stories that appear in John's nightmare were things that actually happened since his second exorcism attempt with Amy, which John would then hear about from the news or other sources. Perhaps the Sterling locals took notice that they had gone missing after they had asked the townsfolk about the church. The police likely conducted an investigation and reported their findings to a local news station, similar to the news stories of Sandra, Attwood, and Ingles, as well as the traveling couple.
  • These investigators might be a reference to the protagonists of the movie The Blair Witch Project.
    • The group consists of three people, with at least two members being male.
    • They tried to record paranormal activity on their cameras.
    • Their fates are unknown.
