The Shadow Crawler is a shadowy-looking character that only appears in FAITH: Chapter II's Prologue.

Biography[]

The Shadow Crawler is an absurdly tall shadowy character with white eyes and has a bulky build. The redness underneath its eyes is likely representative of blood. This character is fast and agile due to ducking away underneath an object or window whenever John enters a room.

September 22 to 27, 1987[]

When John enters a room with a Saint Mary painting inside the Snake Meadow Hill Church, the player can spot the Shadow Crawler quickly hiding underneath rubble. When John exorcises the painting and tries to leave, a cultist jumps out of the rubble and dashes towards John. If John doesn't take out his crucifix he gets stabbed to death.

John enters another room with a purple skull and a confessional booth. The Shadow Crawler can be seen in a window and ducks away when John enters the room. After exorcising the purple skull, a cultist comes out of the confessional booth and tries to ambush John when he tries to leave the room. John will get stabbed to death if he doesn't ward off the attacker.

Later on, John will unlock the seal to the basement. Finding a flashlight, John will enter the next room and encounters the Basement Demon. While fighting off the demon, there is a chance to see the Shadow Crawler standing there, among other things. After vanquishing the demon, this mysterious entity never appears again.

Theories[]

  • This Shadow Crawler might be the spirit of another woman (Not Miriam Bell or the spirit of the Spindly Lady) that was living at the church at the time.
    • Through process of elimination, Miriam Bell couldn't be this person because she's alive in 1987 and isn't old during the incident where 6 children were killed by a demon nor when Miriam took a couple of children for some kind of sacrifice. It can't be the spirit of the Spindly Lady because a note in the Prologue mentions of a deceased old nun after Miriam Bell got employed at the church. This old nun must've been the one that was voicing a Saint Mary painting and attacking John in Chapter II. This nameless woman briefly mentioned in the notes in the Prologue is the only candidate that isn't shown in some kind of demonic or spiritual version in the series. A note tells us that one woman and four children gone missing when Miriam came in. We see the children throughout the Prologue and Chapter II but never the woman.

Trivia[]

  • The Shadow Crawler is well over 6 foot tall because a psychiatric note found in Chapter III reveals that John is 6'2. Despite bending its knees, it is still taller than John when viewed side to side.
  • A cultist and the Shadow Crawler are not the same person. Since we can see the Shadow Crawler underneath the basement, it doesn't rush and try to kill John unlike the other instances. They must be related somehow because once warding off the cultist that tries to kill John, the Shadow Crawler doesn't appear in that respective room. The writer of this page just assumed that this character is a part of the cult.
  • This entity was formerly known as the Stalker by the fan community, before data-mining had revealed that its file names indicate that it is actually called the Shadow Crawler.
