Faith Wiki

This is a page on how the wiki has rotoscope animations, sprites, and audio right from the game itself.

Brief Rundown[]

The maker of this page (Screamin' 'n Hollerin') is relatively new to making pages on a wiki but it seems like people were able to get animations from the games before The Unholy Trinity was released. Although this is great, looking at the filenames of pixels (and audio) can be very important when trying to piece together what the character actually is. The series is generally vague about certain things and making theories can spiral very quickly when figuring out that it's not canon or correct. Also, getting rotoscope animations from the game instead of screen recording can help if you're an artist (probably i dunno :( ). So, thanks to some Discord users from the FAITH Discord server, we were able to sort through all the assets used in the game and put them in two individual Google Drives; One for sprites & animation, and the other for sound effects.

UndertaleModTool[]

(Credit goes to laine and Madz on the FAITH Discord for figuring it out and krzys-h from Github for creating the application.)

Standalone releases of Chapter I and II use the GameMakerStudio 1 engine. However, since Chapter III/The Unholy Trinity was released, it uses GameMakerStudio 2 engine. So, laine and Madz collaborated to figure out a way to extract the files from The Unholy Trinity.

The Unholy Trinity's engine, GameMakerStudio 2, coincidentally uses the same engine Undertale and Deltarune run on. So, piecing some things together, here's a list on how to extract it yourself:

  • Download UndertaleModTool from https://github.com/krzys-h/UndertaleModTool/releases/tag/0.4.0.4, make sure to download "UndertaleModTool_v0.4.0.4.zip" (and not Cli or NSF).
  • Extract the folder wherever
  • Open UndertaleModTool
  • In the top bar, click File > Open > then open FAITH's data.win file located under C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\FAITH
  • To extract sprites, navigate to the top bar and click Scripts > Unpack Assets > ExportAllSprites.csx. This should create a folder named Export_Sprites in your FAITH folder. Open this file and then you're done.
  • To extract audio files, click Scripts > Unpack Assets > ExportAllSounds.csx. A message asking if you want to export external OGGs will appear, select YES. Another message asking if you want to group sounds by audiogroup will appear. Selecting YES will create separate folders for different areas and chapters in the game, selecting NO will group all the audios together. Whichever you select is up to personal preference. Doing this will create two folders in the FAITH folder named Exported_Sounds and External_Sounds. You now have access to all of the audio files in the game.

Turning frames to GIFs[]

(Credit goes to MADZ, laine, and MacG from the FAITH Discord server for making the GIFs)

Even though you have all the assets from the game, rotoscope animations are all frame-by-frame. If you want to make a GIF from the frames, here's how:

  • Select all the frames you'd like to turn into a GIF in your file explorer.
  • Head to EZGIF's GIF maker and drag all the files into the Choose Files section.
  • Click the Upload and make a GIF button.
  • Adjust the delay time to your liking, 7 is closest to how the cutscenes appear ingame.
  • Click the Make a GIF button at the bottom.
  • Download your image.

And with that, you should be good! The website helped to get smooth frames from cutscenes to pixels.

Google Drives[]

(Shoutout to MADZ and laine from the FAITH Discord for organizing the assets into Google Drives)

This is probably what you were looking for, so here's the drives:

Google Drive For The Sounds

Google Drive For The Sprites

If you want the audio, look at the Soundtrack page.

Pixel Art Scaler[]

If you attempted to download one of the many sprites used in the series, you'll notice that they came out incredibly small. To make them larger, use this website (Pixel Art Scaler) to rescale them. You may have to do this for other frames to make a consistent gif.
