The unnamed church staff member is a minor character mentioned in FAITH: Chapter II and its prologue.
They were one of the staff members of Snake Meadow Hill Church before an incident that took the lives of six orphans.
Biography[]
Early 1950s[]
It is unknown how long this character has been working at the church prior to the incident.
One day, the staff member and the orphans start hearing strange, unearthly noises coming from the cornfield just outside Snake Meadow Hill Church. The noises continue for three nights, progressively getting louder and closer. One of the church's dogs, Greta, breaks free from her leash and bolts off into the cornfield towards the noises. Her mutilated body is discovered by the staff member at the edge of the field two nights later.
After this incident, the staff member warns the six orphans not to go near the cornfield anymore. However, the children seemingly could not resist, eventually all running off into the fields as well. Some time later, the remains of the children are found scattered around the fields. The staff member buries whatever remains they can find in six little coffins, some of which were empty, in front of a statue of Saint William. After finishing this gruesome task, the staff member renounces the ministry and leaves Snake Meadow Hill Church, which is also shut down for the time being so as to prevent the incident from being brought to the attention of the public.
Mid to Late 50s[]
Five years have passed since the staff member had left the church. They return to the cornfields in the hopes of receiving some sort of closure; searching for the dogs, or the six children, or the thing that took them, but ultimately finding nothing except for the old scarecrow.
As the staff member turns around to leave the fields, they suddenly sense the presence of something behind them. They find themselves frozen in fear, back turned away from the scarecrow and the "doomed child". Finally, the staff member musters up a tiny bit of courage to look back, causing "it" to immediately retreat in the opposite direction, crashing through the rows of corn. The staff member also flees, remarking that of what little they saw of the child, they were just able to catch a glimpse of its face, or rather, a bloody gaping hole where its face should have been.
The fate of the staff member after this is unknown, though it is possible they were able to escape with their life.
September 22nd - 27th, 1987[]
John Ward experiences a nightmare in which he finds himself having crashed his car in front of the cornfield. Here, he is able to fight the Cornfield Maze Demon and read the two notes left behind by the staff member, detailing Snake Meadow Hill Church's first incident involving missing children.
September 28th, 1987[]
John experiences his most vivid nightmare yet. After exploring Gallup Cemetery, he happens upon Snake Meadow Hill Church, catching a glimpse of the doomed child running behind the church into the cornfield. Entering the cornfield and exorcising the scarecrow reveals the staff member's final note describing their search for answers.
This is the last time the staff member is mentioned.
