The Unseen World is a location that appears throughout the FAITH series.

It is a dark and mysterious realm that exists outside of our plane of existence. John Ward can find entrances to this realm in various places.

History[]

September 21st, 1987[]

After finding a rifle in the foyer of the Martin House, John may decide to shoot the mirror in the master bedroom three times. A demonic hand will reach out and pull John into the Unseen World, where he must fight the Mirror Demon to escape.

Between September 22nd - 27th, 1987[]

John has a dream that takes him back to Snake Meadow Hill Church. After defeating the Basement Demon, he finds a note that wasn't there before, containing the instructions for "the Ritual of the Door to Hell". John successfully performs the ritual and appears in the Unseen World as a Wretch. This area is home to nothing but a collection of stick dolls. Suddenly, the wretch finds Miriam Bell standing in the darkness. Approaching her, she turns around and flashes a wicked smile before John wakes up.

September 28th, 1987[]

John experiences his worst nightmare yet.

Within Snake Meadow Hill Church, something in the confessional booth listens as John repents for failing to save Amy Martin. As penance, it tells him to return to the booth with a child. Doing so, a demonic hand appears from the central compartment and snatches the child. John is also taken and appears in the Unseen World, where he must defeat the Mirror Demon again to escape. The child is nowhere to be found.

Exiting Snake Meadow Hill Church, he finds a newspaper article in the middle of a ritualistic circle with three decapitated thralls. Some time into reading the newspaper, it begins to call out John directly. It quickly derails into Satanic phrases and imagery before John finally looks up. The three dead thralls are now stood up, surrounding John with their bodies ablaze. Cultists surround the area and Amy Martin stares from a distance. John's body begins to melt. John once again appears in the Unseen World as a Wretch. Through the darkness and stick dolls, the Wretch eventually finds a passage back to Earth, where it finds itself in a drainage ditch. Crawling through an underpass, the Wretch transforms back into John.

October 29th, 1987[]

John arrives at the New Haven Apartment Complex to save his friend, Lisa Pearson, from a cult. In the basement, John finds a note from Tiffany, telling Gary that she has gone beyond, and to look for her in the Unseen World. After banishing Alu, John senses that a seal has broken "somewhere beyond". John eventually obtains a code from the Elevator Friend for the Elevator Game: 1 - 4 - 2 - 6 - 2 - 10 - 5 - 1. As he enters the combination and presses the final button, the elevator appears to take him to the tenth floor instead of the first. The elevator has taken him to an area in the Unseen World resembling a floor of the apartment building. On this "floor", he catches occasional glimpses of a kid and his imaginary friend walking around the place.

Through one of the doors is a large, empty room with nothing but a single window. Outside, everything is gray and dark, save for a glowing red cross. Through the other is a dark room where Tiffany lies in wait. She and John engage in battle. After emerging victorious, John heads back to the elevator.

In the elevator, the doors shut behind John. The buttons are not working and a hole has opened up in the floor. The words "damnatio memorie" are written around it. John jumps into the hole three times and appears in the apartment's elusive seventh floor.

Trivia[]

  • According to a PSA by Airdorf, mirrors are portals to the Unseen World[1].
  • The Elevator Game can be played to enter the Unseen World at any time, but if Alu is not defeated beforehand, a seal will block access to Tiffany's room, and the 7th floor will remain inaccessible.
